Work in progress…This is just the line work.
It’s an album cover for a project I am working on THAT WILL NOT BE COMPLETED ANYTIME SOON.
Currently gonna work on picking the fonts and stuff. I want to make a mock up booklet and see how it turns out so there’s more images I want to make.

Potential postcard design… not certain how finished it is yet!

Speedy art trade with Fetlocks, her character Kai. He’s actually a boy.

Dear Captain,
I think you’re kind of cool. Even though your baldric doesn’t make sense and even though your hair is that same length as all my other characters.

Dear Captain,

I drew this ages agooooo, but whatevs. Her design has changed a bit since I last drew this, but not too much. I made her heavier set now, I feel I should ditch the bandanna too since I freaking tend to give all my characters scarfs, ascots or bandannas. Haven’t fully decided if I like the lighter hair or darker.

So this is Rye. Part of a few characters I am designing for some future projects that deal with music I will be making. She’s a fictional/virtual musician. Think of the characters from the Gorillaz, or Studio Killers you can read more here.
I’ll talk about them more later!

So I Want to Start Creating Electronic Music

I’ve always had an interest in making music. I play guitar in my spare time, but recently started to feel a little limited by it. I know not everyone feels that way with this instrument since you can make tons of interesting and unique music with it, but I just feel like I have a lot of music ideas that I can’t really execute with guitar alone. I also don’t have any friends who are musicians so I can’t really do collaborative works either.

ANYWAYS. For the past few months I’ve been even interested in electronic music more than usual. I still really love acoustic music, but I suddenly just had an interest in learning more about the different ways electronic music is made. So I downloaded a couple of DAWs and been messing around with them. They took a while to understand and there’s still more I need to learn about them, but I feel like I know enough to actually start to make songs… So I finally got a full version of one. I tried FL studio first, and whoa, was it weird at first, but then I got the hang of it. Then I tried Ableton…Ableton sounds very nice, the samples/effects are pretty good, I also hear it’s good for recording which I may want to do eventually…HOWEVER, I am not a fan of it’s interface, it doesn’t seem to click the same way FL studio does so I ended up getting a full version of FL. I’ll get Ableton too. MAYBE. If things go well with FL Studio, but first I’m gonna make a few projects with it. See how they go, like if really enjoyed making them, maybe I’ll feel like they were too much work and I end up not liking the outcomes. Either way, this is a hobby! And I’m going to just make music for fun mostly, I don’t expect this to be a future career possibility or anything.

To keep interested though, throughout the year while I am creating songs. I am gonna do some design work, logos and covers, things like that for 3 different characters I’ve created. They are supposed to be fictional/virtual musicians that will sort of represent the different types of music I make. (Like the characters from the Gorillaz or Studio Killers). I KNOW IT SOUNDS SILLY, BUT IT ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE FUN TO ME. I’ll make a separate tumblr to post the songs I make and all the other stuff too, but once I have atleast 3 songs completed. I’m currently working on a few, but they need a lot of work still.

SO YEAH, THAT’S ALL I WANTED TO SAY. LATER.

So for class we had to look at other illustrator’s/designer’s business cards and resumés and give our opinions on them. I’ll be presenting these in class so I will elaborate more there, but for here I am just gonna add some very simple notes.

Chris Leavens:

+Uniform look

+appealing and fitting for his style

+Card isn’t cluttered too much and get’s to the point

Linda Silvestri:

+Uniform look

+simple yet effective

+Fits their style and what they do

Egil Paulsen:

+interesting idea and design

-Not uniform with his webiste

-The card looks very appealing and colorful, but the site it leads you to does not feel like the artwork on the card

-It would be rather expensive to print these, even though they do make neat little business card Eisels, I don’t see it’s design as very practicable or necessary

Muku Studios:

+The black and white card is very eye catching because of the beautiful, symmetrical black and white illustration

+It’s legible

+The site is rather bland and not at all like their business card

Jimmy Raheriarisoa:

+Neat overall clean look, uniform with their site.

+creative and unique

-Resume is legible, but could probably be simplified more or just have less illustrations.

Other Resumes I found

+interesting designs

+creative and fun

-many are hard to read and too detailed.
